Victoria's AIDS Walk for Life 2011

This year's Scotia Bank AIDS Walk for Life in Victoria took place on 21 September 2011. Walking from Centennial Square to the legislature where there were speakers and music. VARCS is partnered with Vancouver Island Person's with AIDS Society on this event.

It is with heavy hearts that after 20 years VARCS and the other HIV services are still SO much needed! It is difficult and sad that so many do not think HIV is still a disease that has no cure and no vaccine and that this virus is still spreading and is very low on the radar now. More than 68,000 people are HIV+ in Canada and approximately 13,500 in BC. A third don't know they are positive.

We must stay vigilant to prevent the spread of HIV. We need to make the message clear that HIV can still be spread today.
