National AIDS Walk for Life, Sunday 23 September 2007
Canada's most important HIV/AIDS fundraiser and awareness event is the annual AIDS Walk for Life. During this National event, cities and communities from across the country hosted Walks to raise funds for local services.
VARCS' and Vancouver Island Persons Living With HIV/AIDS Society
joined together for Canada's most important HIV/AIDS fundraiser and awareness event the annual AIDS Walk for Life. The Walk took place on Sunday, September 23rd from the lawn of the legislature buildings up Government street to Centennial Square. This year's walk was more important than ever, to remember those who have HIV/AIDS, those not with us any longer and this year as a fundraiser as the Victoria AIDS groups have had a 30% funding decrease. All money collected was split evenly between the 2 groups!
HIV/AIDS affects all of us. There is no cure or vaccine. We walked for those who are no longer with us. We walked to support those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. We walked to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS in our own communities. We all had our reasons. Whatever your reasons, join the fight against HIV/AIDS in our community and collect pledges or volunteer. We hope that one day we will no longer need to walk. Until then, the Walk will do us good! When you do this, you are making a difference in the lives of those living with and affected by HIV/AIDS in your own community!
Thanks too those who Helped!! The marshalls, organizers, pledge teams, walkers, and the set up and clean up crews. Also thanks to
